Worked great until it started leaking..., (What's this?) We got this kettle on Amazon three years ago and it has been great. It was our first kettle.
Pros:
We love that it boils water so fast (all those watts!).
The cordless base is very handy.
All around it is very effective and a pleasure to use.
Scale cleans up really well with a vinegar soak.
Cons:
The lid is sometimes finicky.
When it recently started leaking water, I disassembled it to see if it could be repaired. There is a hairline crack in the plastic at the base of the handle - repair is not likely.
Krups customer service was very good to work with and sent us a rebate for a new one, even though we are two years out of warranty.
This was a great first kettle - we are going to retire it to the camper and replace our daily unit with the slightly less powerful, but (hopefully) more durable KRUPS BW500.
Defective Krups kettle, We got this kettle as a gift on Christmas. Nice,light and excellent looking kettle but the on/off switch is bad design. The switch keeps turning off so you have to hold it down for about 2 minutes and then it works. I am going to throw it away and get another brand.
Folks, the complaints you have for this kettle is due to YOUR water Quality, I use filtered, softened water in this kettle, and have been using it for over 5 years now, with no issues. The bottom is slightly discolored but has no sediment whatsoever.. Kettle boils water quickly, and I like how the switch gives off an audible CLICK when the heating is complete. I have a different, more expensive model of a KRUPS kettle at my office, and I PREFER this one for ease of use.
Don't Buy - Leaks - Replaced and Still Leaks, The first one leaked so we got another one and within 8 months it also leaks. Save your money and find another manufacturer. The problem is inconsistent manufacturing so you can easily get a lemon.
Krups Water kettle leaking,
we own one since last Christmas. Cool device. I love it to make really quickly hot water for tea or soups.....but now it starts leaking out on the back where the handle starts....sad....so sad....thinking to buy a new one on Amazon. I do not have a receipt - it was a gift.
Leaking twice, We had to replace the first one because it started leaking at the base after 9 months. The replacement now does the same exactly after another 9 months. I will not give this kettle another chance.
Disappointment, I was so happy to order this Krups FLF2-J4 Cordless Electric 54-Ounce Water Kettle - what a disappointment- it worked about 15 times and then the switch stopped working. I wish I had looked at the reviews prior to purchasing it as the switch problem has been ongoing.
Fine for 2 years, then leaked 1-2 cups water per use, We've had this kettle for 2 years and it worked fine, until recently when it started leaking water. It's up to about 1-2 cups per use and I keep it in a plastic bucket. Called Krups and they said it's out of warranty. I'm going to try Braun next.
good kettle, I have been using this kettle for a long time. I can't even remember when I got it. I used it a lot and liked it very much. It boiled water fast and was simple to maintain. I never had any problems with it. However, I left it on my stove and heat from the oven melted the bottom so now it must go. I will not buy a new one because I enjoy simplicity and I already own a stove and a pot.
