Saeco 00354 Aroma Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel

Poor Product Longevity, (What's this?) I purchased this machine based on some of these reviews and my friend had a Saeco machine but different model that she liked. My machine failed 2 months after the warranty was up (14 months). The element in the steaming unit failed making the unit unusable. I was not a heavy user of the machine, one latte per day. The cost to fix the machine was almost the same as what I paid for the unit brand new. I would try looking for a more durable machine. I agree with the comments about the design of the steaming wand being awkward, however when the machine was working the lattes it made were great.
Phillps Customer Care, (What's this?)
Too Bad...I had high hopes., (What's this?) I have had the Aroma for one week now...used it twice with no problems. On the third use, the machine broke. The pump does not come on to make steam...which according to Saeco is NOT normal. I liked the shots it made...good crema and flavor.
Saeco 00354 Aroma Espresso Machine, (What's this?) I purchased 2 different brands before this one & had to return them. I'm very pleased with my new Saeco machine. I've had it for over 3 weeks & I use it every day. What I like is the ease to operate, the water tank is large & you don't need a special container to use the frothier. And I love the fact that so far every espresso has had a thick golden color crema & the milk froths perfectly. It was a great buy at a discounted price $200.00, love it. Thank you.
Tastes like Italy, (What's this?) I bought this espresso machine a year ago. I spent time in Italy and I was looking for a no-gimmicks, quality coffee maker that would make coffee the way it was in Treiste. This machine has met my highest expectations, it is fast, easy to use, easy to clean and only as noisy as any other machine. It makes a delicious cup of espresso with a wonderfully thick crema.
OK for the price, but it has it's limitations, I had a slightly older version of this machine for many years. It is a solid reliable machine, but if you like to drink straight shots, it has some pretty severe limitations.

1. The boiler is very small, so the temperature drops during the shot, making it difficult to pull a truly tasty shot.

2. The portafilter has a back-pressure device which is supposed to help creme production regardless of grind or tamp. You can probably make crema with kitty litter using this, but it just doesn't taste that good. If you have this device, a non-pressurized portafilter used to be available from Saeco, you may want to check with them.

3. The portafilter is not a standard size, so finding a tamper can be difficult.

If you make mostly milk drinks, it's not a bad machine, because you can cover up some of the inadequacies with milk. It's also a pretty solid machine for the price, and not a bad entry level machine, but if you take your espresso seriously, save yourself the inevitable upgrade, and go for a larger machine right off the bat.
For the money, hard to beat, (What's this?) The machine has performed well for me the past several months that I have owned it. Although in many ways it looks and feels like somebody's industrial arts project, it feels much sturdier than anything else available in this price range. The steel is a nice touch and makes it look like a high-end unit (even though when you use it it does feel that like that high school project I mentioned earlier).

The result is also quite good. It makes the real deal with crema. The heating plate is silly, IMHO. It would take way too long with the unit powered up to make a noticeable difference in the cups' temperature. Just turn the unit on, wait about 30 seconds for it to be ready to pull shots, and pull a shot with no coffee into your cup. Set the cup aside and put your espresso ground in the hopper (which is now heated and more effective, I am told), discard the hot water in your cup, and you are ready to pull your shots. No need to make things complicated here.

I do have one question though. There is a plastic tray with a piece of wood in the center that appears to serve as a separator. What on Earth is that for?!?! I can't figure out what the purpose of that thing is and Saeco didn't extend the courtesy of replaying to my email when I asked them what it was for (the reason I will likely not buy another Saeco product).
Works Great. Pleases the picky., (What's this?) This is the second espresso machine I bought for my boyfriend online. The first was a disaster and had to go back. But I did NOT buy it through Amazon and there was a struggle with the distributor and the manufacturer about where I should send it and how/when I'd get credit. It took over four months to resolve. So, I was a little jaded this time.

My boyfriend only wanted a certain type of "real" espresso machine. Not the kind that just blows hot air in your drink. There were many other factors and specification he was particular about and I don't even remember them now. This one has the pump, etc... I used to think this was to snobby but, after tasting the difference and have to agree. There's a major difference between flavored coffees, a steam machine and real espresso in a cafe Americana or mocha. Anyway, it arrived quickly and was easy to set up.

The finish is very nice and has maintained it's appearance all this time.
Christmas present..., Excellent device, though the instructions are a bit confusing at first. They are forgiven once you figure out how to use it. It makes very good espresso and cappuccino for a fraction of the price you'll pay at the major coffeehouse places. Even with the highest of high-end coffees from Whole Foods that we like, grinding it there in the store at the espresso grind, it still is about $.18 per cup. That's a lot better than Starbucks. Two hints in using the machine: Put enough water in the reservoir to run water through the filter-handle once to make sure that the water and the filter-handle is heated up before you add coffee into the filter-handle. That way, it will ensure that you get hot espresso every time. Also, when using the steamer, get a kitchen cloth (like a drying cloth) and let the steam blow into that first before frothing the milk. The machine has the tendency to spit a bit of water when you first open the valve. Other than that, it does a fine job.
Shots aren't strong enough, I have a Nouva Simonelli Mac Cups I use at work, which is wonderful. This machine is 10% of the price, but for me the money was wasted. The shots aren't strong enough and while the milk does foam, it doesn't get hot. I actually prefer coffee out of my stove top Italian coffee maker with half & half.

Hamilton Beach 7-1/5-Cup Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, Red

Hot Water, (What's this?) It gets hot very quickly, and easy to fill. I bought this for work to get hot water and not to have to put water into the microwave. I do like that after it heats up it turns off by it self and you don't have to keep an eye on it.
Energy-inefficient, I drink a lot of tea and really need a British-quality electric kettle. This is my third try in the USA and I have to admit, I bought it for the colour (it matched my mixer). It heats the water in a reasonable time, BUT it also cools it quickly too. Even fifteen minutes later, the water in the kettle is cold, and you have to reheat it from scratch. I swear this is why my electric bill is higher than it should be... will find out when I replace it with an INSULATED kettle.

Also, as there is no insulation, the kettle itself becomes dangerously hot to the the touch.

I do NOT recommend this kettle to other British expats. :-)

Oh... and the reviewers who say that this "heats water quickly" most likely have never experienced electric kettles on 220v power ;-) "Heats quickly" may be in comparison to a stove-top kettle. (Electric kettles are a recent arrival in the USA and are still not seen in every home.
Worst kettle I've owned, My husband purchased this kettle from another store As a mothers day gift. With in a month the bottom was rusting. I exchanged it for another only to get it home and find there was a huge chunck out of the spout. I took it back again. After about 2 months the 3rd kettle was rusting. I have phoned Hamilton beach three times. I have had to leave a message for them because every time I call the time quickly goes from a 5 minute hold time to 15 minutes and continues to get longer. I emailed twice. I have never received a reply to any of my calls or emails. There customer service is terrible.
A Great and Inexpensive Electric Kettle., I need an electric Tea Kettle for college as I would not be able to use the stove-top Kettle I use for heating water up in for Tea and Coffee, and I ultimately decided to purchase this Tea Kettle.

    Positives:
    1) This Tea Kettle contains very little plastic. In fact the only plastic that water comes into contact with is a small filter in the pour spout that can be(and I have)removed, and the measurement window. Despite the small amount of plastic contact, no plastic taste seeps into the water, which was something I was concerned over in finding an electric Tea Kettle. Most electric Tea Kettles that are under $50 are mostly plastic or contain are fair amount of areas where the heated water comes into contact with plastic, this one does not.

    2) Simple Operation: Can you turn on a light switch? Good then you can operate this Tea Kettle. Simply flip the switch located on the back of the Kettle down and it will light up to tell you it is on, and then turn off automatically once the water reaches boiling temperature.

    3) The water boils quick. The average time to takes to boil about fourteen fluid ounces of water in this Kettle is about two and a half minutes. My stove-top Kettle at home takes about five for the same amount of water.
Not so expensive and it works fine., I bought it at a local store for a similar price. It works perfectly for me, and I think it is worth the price. It boils the water very quickly. I usually boil 0.75 liters in maybe a little more than one minute.
Perfect kettle!, (What's this?) I love love love this little kettle! We use it almost every day. It has become my favorite way to cook pasta - put the pasta in the pan on the stove, boil water in the kettle and pour over pasta. Make it sooo much faster than waiting for the water to boil on the stove. Tea water is ready super fast and it makes a perfect partner to a french press.
Red kettle, (What's this?) Love this red kettle. Use it every morning to heat the for our coffee, plus use it during the day to heat water for tea. It heats the water faster than our microwave. Used my large coffee cups to measure the water and had to get used to putting the water into the kettle without spilling a little. The technique I developed was to raise the cup higher, which enabled me to pour without spilling. When I pour from the kettle, it is better to grab the lower part of the handle. This enables you to tip the water sprout with more stability so that you can empty the kettle.
Major design Flaws, (What's this?) I've had this kettle for a month, and am already looking for something new. There are several design flaws that just outweigh the kettle's good looks. First, it is stainless steel, so those with kids/pets, note that the outside gets really hot. The placement of the handle over the small opening makes it inconvenient to add water. The super-short spout, coupled with the handle placement, pretty much guarantees that the steam will hit your hand when you pour. This is also due to the kettle's shape - bigger at the bottom and small at the top means you have to tilt it further to pour, thus making the steam go straight up to your hand. The other issue is the switch. It is a clear plastic piece that sticks out at the base ans is very fragile. Mine barely got bumped and no longer will turn the kettle on and off.
This is my favorite tea kettle!, I'm a long time tea drinker and I needed a new tea kettle. I wanted one that didn't have a cord and heated water to boiling very quickly.

When I spotted this red kettle, I immediately purchased it and have been very pleased with its performance. I use this kettle several times a day every day and it has not failed in the least. It heats a full kettle to boiling very quickly and efficiently.

I use the water for teas, instant coffee, jello, oatmeal and soups.

There have been some comments by other reviewers about it being noisy and that the handle is uncomfortable and awkward. I have not had any trouble gripping the handle or handling the kettle. Also, I have not noticed any noise while it is heating except for when it is close to boiling ... then you do hear the water moving around in the kettle ... but that would be true with any kettle reaching the boiling point.

I love the cheerful red color and while I have been using this kettle for a couple of months now, all I have done is wipe the exterior down with a clean dish cloth and the finish is still shiny and bright red.

While I have a couple of other kettles for steeping tea and other uses, this one is my favorite and it is used all the time.

I highly recommend this kettle to anyone interested in it. I also thought the price on this kettle to be very reasonable.
Red stainless electric kettle, (What's this?) Great fast-kettle. Love the color and style.

Cuisinart DCC-1100BK 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black

Super Coffee Maker, (What's this?) We bought this Cuisinart DCC-1100BK 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker due to our old one not brewing our coffee hot enough or keeping it hot after brewing. We have friends who had a Cuisinart and told us theirs worked very well and we actually tried their coffee - it was very hot after setting there for 10-15 minutes.
We are very happy with ours and recommend it to anyone who desires hot coffee after the brewing is completed.
    Cuisinart Coffeemaker (1100BK), (What's this?)
Loved it! Until it stopped working, (What's this?) This was the best coffee maker I had ever owned. The coffee was great! But, about 6 months after buying it it started to have issues, and smoked a little bit. I cleaned it, thinking it was just my hard water, and worked for a while. But this morning, it completely died. When I try to turn it on and just makes this clicking noise and does nothing. Don't have the money to buy and new one now, so I guess I'll just be drinking tea for while.
Electrical Melt-Down, This was a great coffee maker for a year and a half before it had an electrical melt-down. If it had just stopped working, that would have been one thing, but to have a fire hazard is something else. After reading so many similar reviews, I am stunned that this product has not been recalled.
Great coffee maker, I previously had another model of Cuisinart and it lasted over 5 years. This was a great deal and even had a rebate. We love it.
rebate, (What's this?) the coffee maker is wonderful!! when we ordered the coffee maker there was a promotion to receive a $10 rebate, have not rec'd any instructions regarding obtaining the rebate.
Great buy., (What's this?) This is an excellent coffeemaker fast and easy to use.The water filter is a plus so is the included gold filter. This replaced my Gevalia and is a big upgrade.Backup timer just ads to its usefulness.
Great coffee maker!, (What's this?) This is the best coffee maker I've ever used, I didn't know that filted coffee can be this delicious , and it is very easy to clean.
Great Coffee Pot, (What's this?) Coffee pot works great. Brews coffee in average time, nothing too fast, but who needs it super fast anyways! My only complaint, which is minor, is that the digital clock does not light up.
We Are Pleased, (What's this?) I purchased this coffee maker to replace a Bunn machine that developed a leak after three or four years of use. This coffee maker has a clean design, it is easy to use, and it brews a good, hot cup of coffee. I like that I don't need to purchase paper filters and that this machine requires about 15% less coffee than the Bunn to brew coffee the way we like it.

Coffee: While the bulk of the liquid is water, all of the flavor should be from the coffee. To achieve the same great quality of coffee you receive at a coffee bar, you need to use the same quality beans. Buy the beans fresh and whole, only about a two weeks’ supply at a time for maximum freshness. Once the coffee bean is broken, its flavor degrades very quickly. If it is not practical to buy small supplies, we recommend you separate larger amounts of beans into one to two week portions immediately after purchase, and freeze them in airtight containers. The best way to maximize freshness is to minimize exposure to air, light and moisture. So, once removed from the freezer, beans should be maintained in a sealed container at room temperature, since damaging condensation occurs every time the beans are removed from the freezer or refrigerator. Note that some coffee experts advise against freezing dark-roast beans, because freezing can cause the oils to coagulate. Other experts disagree. We suggest you experiment and decide yourself.

The Perfect Cup of Coffee Housed in a classic design with stainless-steel accents, this fully automatic 12-cup coffeemaker features 24-hour programmability--great for waking up to the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee. The unit offers a 1- to 4-cup setting for brewing a smaller amount, and its brew-pause function allows for pouring a cup before the brew cycle has completed. The included 12-cup carafe provides an ergonomic handle, a knuckle guard, and a dripless pour spout for comfortable, drip-free serving. For added convenience, the coffeemaker comes with a self-clean function and a 60-second reset, which "remembers" settings and where it was in the brewing process. A gold-tone coffee filter and a charcoal water filter are included to ensure fresh, delicious-tasting coffee. The coffeemaker measures approximately 8 by 8 by 14-1/4 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty. From the Manufacturer The Cuisinart DCC-1100 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker You’ll love the way the Cuisinart Classic 12-cup programmable coffeemaker looks on the counter, as it’s brewing 12 cups of fabulous coffee. The Cuisinart Classis is a statement about how serious you are about your coffee ‒ and your kitchen. Enjoy the full programmability, extreme ease of use, and great tasting coffee.

The Quest for a Perfect Cup of Coffee Element 1. Water: Coffee is 98% water. Often overlooked, the quality of the water is as important as the quality of the coffee. A good rule of thumb is that if your water doesn’t taste good from the tap, it won’t taste any better in your coffee.

Presto Heat 'n Steep Electric Tea Kettle

Efficiency, (What's this?) I am happy with this purchase. I use it thru out the day as I drink a lot of green tea. Easy to clean and it works quickly.
Good tea kettle for the money, (What's this?) For the price, this tea kettle is just what I need for brewing green and specialty teas. After watching the video showing exactly how to use and steep tea in the kettle, I purchased it immediately and I haven't been disappointed in its use.

As previously mentioned by other reviewers, I do wish it had a longer or even a detachable cord. I also wish it had a feature that would automatically turn off the kettle when it reached the desired temperature instead of having to constantly watch the gauge on the kettle.

But, in keeping this in mind, such a kettle with these features would cost much more than this one does and it all depends on what you want to spend and what conveniences you want to have with it.

It's a good little kettle for the money and for what it does and I'm very pleased with it.
Cheep simple & effective, (What's this?) I don't use the steeping basket I use it to heat water & poor it into a cup containing a pouch of loose tea. It has worked great for months except the battery in the timer died after 3 weeks. I haven't bothered to change it I just use the kitchen timer.

Update: After over a year of being used multiple times a day I forgot & left it on. I don't think much of the boil dry setup it did shut down the heating element, but only after the water was gone. The pot smells like oil now & there's a film on the bottom. It still works, but I'm getting a new one. I can't find an electric kettle I like as much as this one for under $150.
very good one, (What's this?) Pros:
    1. Adjustable timer, you will never forget about your tea (there is a table in user manual how to set time for different type of tea)
    2. There is a mesh inside this kettle, so you can make your tea and you do not need a tea pot (we do not use this feature though)
    3. There is a termo sensor and a good looking gauge
    4. Very good construction, solid built, aluminium handle

    Cons:
    1. There is no base, and power cable is always attached
    2.
Good kettle but a potential electric hazard., I received this kettle from my mother this past Christmas and it worked well until I brought it back home. The kettle doesn't have an on/off switch, you just have to plug and unplug to turn it on and off. This worked at my mom's house but when I brought it back home sparks would leap out of the outlet whenever it was unplugged. I initially remedied this with a power strip with a switch but then a couple months later the cord and metal plug became VERY warm whenever I used it. It's a wonderful kettle that heats water very quickly and efficiently but without a power switch and with possibly shoddy wiring, I see it as too much of a liability to use as often as I do.
VERY NICE TEA MAKER, (What's this?) This is the second tea maker - returned it due to slight arcing when unplugging. That brings me to the cord, what a pain, I would have given 5 stars for the concept but this dang cord is a pain especially when trying to rinse/clean the pot. I folded the cord and put a rubber band around it when cleaning. Very satisfied with the timer/steeper. Like the way the steeper basket clicks when taking off and putting on the lid. Have just used black/herb steeper setting so far.
Little more than a basic, electric tea kettle, (What's this?) Lacks markings for measuring correct amount of water to brew tea. Requires two cups of water for thermometer to work accurately. Has no spout stopper, so heat escapes readily from kettle once unplugged. No whistle or on/off switch. Timer for brewing works but the chime that sounds when timer runs down stopped working on mine after about a month.
Not bad, could use a few improvements, (What's this?) I had read several reviews on this tea kettle and have a friend who recommended it, so for the money I think it's pretty good. I bought it mainly for the temperature feature, but wish it had an on/off switch and an all stainless interior.
Excellent, (What's this?) This tea kettle is easy and fun to use. Being able to steep the tea right in the tea kettle and use the right temperature water for the tea of your choice is a great feature to have.
Best budget electric kettle for tea, (What's this?) I spent hours looking through the different models of electric kettles, trying to find one that could regulate the temperature at less-than-boiling. I'm also a college student, and can't spend $200 on one of the crazy PDA-E.Kettle-Fridge-TV models that seem popular. Buying a $15 kettle and sticking a thermometer in it is a hassle. All the models that automatically shut off at a desired temperature have mixed reviews about accuracy, and they're expensive.

But I didn't give up! I found the PRESTO.

Built-in thermometer? Heck yes. Built-in timer. Nice! Weighs only 2.3 lbs. and 40 oz. capacity. Awesome! Built-in tea infuser? ...

  • Stainless steel infuser for brewing both loose leaf and bag teas for a perfect pot of tea
  • Heats water and steeps tea in the same pot
  • Built-in-thermometer and timer help to ensure correct steeping temperature and time
  • Special thermostat automatically shuts kettle off if it boils dry

Mr. Coffee TF5 4-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, Black

Works good but blah coffee, (What's this?) I bought this to replace my Cuisineart 4 cup coffee maker which works fine, but leaks from the carafe onto the counter with every pour. I have to say that the Mr. Coffee looks pretty nice, the price is right, and after a handful of uses functions just fine. The first few cups tasted less rich and flavorful than I thought they should. Since I still had my old coffee maker, I set up a test using the same variety coffee and same amount in the two coffee makers side-by-side. Sure enough, the Mr. Coffee just doesn't make very flavorful coffee and the Cuisinart was noticably better. The Cuisinart has a cone filter and Mr.
Amazing, (What's this?) It's just what I needed. I have no complaints with it. It's easy to use and clean. I use it everyday now :) The item was shipped in time.
Strange Reviews, (What's this?) I don't get the reviews here. I've had this thing for about a week, using it twice a day, and haven't spilled a drop. Coffee comes out tasting like coffee. It's a good machine if all you want are 2 cups of normal person sized coffee.
POS = DOA, (What's this?) Ordered as a gift. Dead out of the box. Recipient called Mr. Coffee direct and they told him they would send a replacement out within a week, but I'm not happy about the product being dead out of the box. Hope to have better luck with the replacement.
Fine for what it is, (What's this?) It's an inexpensive drip coffemaker, and I got it as a gold box or lightning deal a few weeks ago for about the price of a package of good coffee at my local supermarket. I needed something to use to make my morning coffee after I returned my Keurig coffeemaker. (Loved the Keurig, hated all the plastic waste created by using the K-cups and never succeeded in making a good cup using any of the available "use your own coffee" K-cup alternatives.
Great little coffee pot, (What's this?) I bought this to replace an old Krups coffee pot. Many of the reviews talked about problems with leakage and difficulty using the carafe. Since I have a similar coffee pot at work here are the tricks to making spill free pot.
tiny and adorable, (What's this?) We had a Mr Coffee machine that was twice this size for a good 10 years (great quality) but it took up too much room on our counter. I saw this and had to get it (especially during black friday's deals) and realized it was a 4 cup but didn't realize how small it was. Its adorable! Takes up almost no room, its perfect for what we need.
Does it's job!!, (What's this?) I bought this small coffee maker for my office. Perfect size for me. The only complain I have is the coffee does not taste as good and tastes little burnt. I have a 12-cup coffee maker and by comparison, I feel this coffee maker does not do it's job as well as the other one.
Nice little coffee maker, This little coffee maker brews very good coffee. But there are three things to keep in mind in order to repeatedly get pleasant tasting coffee when using this coffee maker.

#1. Make sure you lightly clean the decanter & basket and brew 4 CUPS OF WATER before you ever make your first cup of coffee with this coffeemaker. This is important, and is right on page 2 of the directions.
I would bet that many people skip this step, and consequently wonder why the coffee they made has a subpar taste.

#2. Clean the coffee maker once a month. White vinegar works quite well. Again, the directions give the proper procedure.

#3. Keep in mind that with this coffeemaker, "one cup" of coffee = 5 ounces. If say, you want to drink 8 ounces of coffee(one measured cup) you should fill the reservoir to the 2 cup (10 ounce) mark. The paper filter absorbs around 2 ounces of water, so after brewing you are left with one "cup" of coffee.
Bad Design, (What's this?) This is the poorest design of a coffeepot I have ever seen in my over 50 years of drinking coffee.

The lid opens up to vertical which interferes with the pot when filling the unit. And if that is not enough, if you overfill the unit, there is a hole in the back of the unit where the water runs out onto your counter.

KitchenAid 14-Cup Glass Carafe Coffee Maker, Contour Silver

Ditch Keurig, go for KITCHENAID!!!!, (What's this?) Having received the much touted Keurig, I was amazed at how wonderful my Kitchenaid coffeemaker was. The Keurig, aside from being monstrously expensive as far as the cost of designer coffee (remember how cheap Barbie dolls are, but the clothes alone can bankrupt you?), tasted like styrofoam - even after rinsing several times, and multiple cups of coffee. The Keurig coffees I found to be in no league with my Kitchenaid coffeemaker, which makes wonderful coffee (no hint of styrofoam) and does not leak like the Keurig maker did from cup one.
KitchenAid 101, (What's this?) Got this to replace my old KitchenAid that simply wore out. This one is more updated and very easy to use. Like the fact that you can remove the water chamber from the pot to fill or leave it attached. Easy to program and follow the instructions. Daily care is important in my book. Not time consuming or hard to do. Coffee has a great taste and two settings to choose from. Audiles are loud enough to hear and programming is easy. Instructions are well written. Have to say we are very pleased with the product.
Great Coffee but..., (What's this?) Love, love, love the coffee this coffee maker makes. Supposedly the carafe is dishwasher safe, but it isn't; after a few washings mine began to leak at the seam. Amazon replaced the whole coffee maker...
    Getting a Replacement, (What's this?)
Do not purchase, The rim has leaked from day one. We thought that we had made a wise choice because of the brand, however, the product is not well made and it is not user friendly.

    Buyer beware.
Can I EVER forgive KitchenAid? I don't think so., (What's this?) I have had this "thing" for a while now and can't say enough bad things about it. Started out okay except that programming it was a challenge. The instructions? Forget it. I had to figure it out myself as the instructions didn't instruct. Okay, it's a Kitchen Aid and I was willing to forgive and forget...it's probably just me, or so I thought. After a month or so, the door on the filter compartment started to pop open. I would hear it click shut and then come back and it was open. Then, after a while, the little devil didn't even try to hide its contrary nature and the door would open while I stood there and watched it. The Coup de grace? The friggin carafe leaks.

I HATE YOU COFFEE MAKER and I'm going back to my 30 year old french press.
Ease of use Coffee Maker?, (What's this?) The KitchenAid 14-cup Glass Coffee Maker makes a good cup of coffee. BUT one word of warning...do not ever lose your Product Manual. (You will definitely need the manual to aid you in all the steps necessary to program it.) This coffee maker is full of different electronic features. It has many difficult electronic settings you have to make in order to use this coffee pot. It's even more difficult to have to re-program your coffee maker, if the power goes out. I just cringe when the power flickers.
Awesome, awesome...., So after taking back my Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind & Brew, Brushed Chrome,(horrible product) I decided to buy this (KitchenAid)I came home did a good clean on this machine and brew me the BEST cup of coffee you can brew at home. It tasted so good, and now I think I know what the "refined" word taste like (I still dont care what it means)Awesome coffee maker, my mom always told me that coffee tastes better when you have the right brewer, now I can see that. It does have a filter in it to filter the tap water, so I think that has a lot to do with it, so in general, good coffee, the best.
Faulty carafe, Overall, this coffee maker has been fine, but we recently had to replace the carafe as the plastic ring around the top came unglued, and as a result, coffee would leak through the lip on the front when you pour. Very annoying. Tried to use super glue to reattach the top ring, but it only lasted about two weeks before the heat ultimately made the glue ineffective and it began leaking again.
    Seal was bad, (What's this?)

Mr. Coffee 8-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker

Coffe maker just ok, (What's this?) It looks nice, but somehow the top cover of the coffee maker itself does not close properly intact. It leaves a gap where the water evaporates while it is brewing.
Excellent & Economical, (What's this?) Can't go wrong with the coffee maker .. thermal crafe, 8 cups (which equals 2-1/2 of my mugs) and it makes GREAT coffee ... I use a the brown (non-bleached) filters and double them up (I use 2) This unit makes my personal fresh roasted beans (med/fine ground) really taste great.
Bottom line .. quality machine and the per cup price is 1/3 of a $129++ Kurig unit and those packets are too expensive ... this Thermal coffee maker yields great fresh coffee and stays hot without sucking electricity out of the wall ...
I love it, (What's this?) First thing to know is that this is the same as the glass-carafe 12-cup coffee maker, but the thermal carafe is double-walled, so less volume for coffee. Important if you have a small kitchen or limited counter space. I love it. I think the coffee is perfectly drinkable as soon as it is brewed- no waiting. On a lazy Sunday morning, I can go back to it for perfect-temperature coffee 2 hours later and it is only slightly cooler, and NOT BURNT. With my old coffee maker, I had to turn the hot plate off as soon as it finished brewing and then re-heat later cups in the microwave - never quite right. The carafe, being two layers of stainless steel, is heavier than a glass one, and the lid is tight, and the opening is narrow enough that it would be hard to clean without a baby bottle brush (we've got one of those, so not a problem for us). Also, because the carafe doesn't sit and burn on a hot plate, it needs less scrubbing than a glass carafe. I know that the more expensive brands, like Cuisinart, come with thermal carafes that have a push-button to make it a little easier, though they're no lighter. I preferred to spend less than half and get all the features I wanted, and deal with the lid, but then I am young (see comment re: baby bottles) and don't have arthritis.
thermal coffeepot, (What's this?) Very good product. Easy to program and use. The only thing I don't like is that you have to turn the knob back and forth for opening and closing. I used to have a cuisinart thermal pot that didn't need the lid turned. Just an ease-of-use thing.
Good deal, (What's this?) I bought Mr. Coffee 8-cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker a few months ago because for the 5th or 6th time I had broken my glass decanter and knew it was time to spend a little extra on a thermal decanter--at least I can't break it! Plus, nowadays, it's difficult and not worth the money to replace a glass decanter. Although, when I did break my glass decanter, Mr. Coffee sent me a free one, though it did not fit my coffeemaker, but I thought their customer service was good. I am soooooo glad I finally bought a thermal coffeemaker/decanter. This one is one of the most reasonably priced. Regarding some issues brought up by other reviewers, the lid to the decanter takes a couple tries to get just right, but it's not that big a deal. I'm type "A", always rushing around, and I have no problem twisting on the lid (though I get it crooked sometimes) while tending to the kids, dog, etc., so you will get the hang of it. Furthermore, when I am ready to pour the coffee, I loosen the lid about half-way so the coffee will pour more quickly (no, I can not wait the extra seconds to pour!) so if you are like me, always rushing, just twist the lid to loosen it and the coffee comes out quickly enough. Finally, I worried at first that my coffee would not be hot enough, and I was NOT going to fill the decanter with hot water and WAIT 5 minutes before brewing my coffee--waste of time and water! So, I do NOT put hot water in the decanter first as is suggested in the instructions, and my coffee is brewed perfectly steaming hot! So much so that I add a cube of frozen cream to it, and it's perfect! Also, the coffee stays hot for a while--a couple hours. I have no problem with the temperature at all. Maybe after 4 hours, I would have to microwave the coffee a few seconds, but 2 or 3 hours, no problem. The smaller capacity is no problem either--makes plenty of coffee for my morning and afternoon fix, and enough for visitors too.
Thought I wanted more; VERY happy with this product, (What's this?) When I set out to get a coffee pot for the upstairs in my home (so that if I wanted coffee before my husband did and because I can't easily navigate stairs), I thought I wanted an upscale "one cup" type model. I would have my first cup by myself when I arise earlier and join him for a second when he got up. Hmmm.
For one thing, my husband likes scalding hot coffee and I spend a good deal of time waiting for mine to cool off. This thermal coffee maker (if one heats the thermal carafe as suggested) delivers coffee at the perfect temperature for drinking (not warming one's hands or cauterizing bleeding gums <g>) and keeps it at that temperature for a decent period of time; certainly long enough for refills.

I use very good coffee which is not always available in the "one cup" version, so if I wanted to use the upscale models I would have to get the "empty" one cup, fill it freshly each day and then I would have............one cup of coffee and no refills.

In thinking about the enormous difference in price and given that we grind our own beans daily anyway, this made perfect sense and has worked wonderfully for me.

There just was no justifying the price differential; and "one cup" for me (and my special mug and travel mug) may not be "one cup" for you with your lovely bone china. In my case, "one mug" would be a better description of what I drink in the early a.m.

Yes, one does have to line up arrows on the lid appropriately.
Excellent Coffee Maker, (What's this?) This coffee maker does everything the $100+ ones do. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee warm plenty long. Nice to have an 8 cup size.
Hot Coffee, (What's this?) This machine makes tasty coffee and keeps it hot for long stretches of time. If the people in your household have differing schedules, the early and the late get the same hot cup.

The instructions recommend warming the carafe with hot water before brewing. If you don't, however, the incoming coffee warms it plenty (i.e. don't fret over preheating the carafe).

It only takes a brew or two to get used to lining up the arrows. The carafe doesn't fit in the machine if it isn't closed, and the coffee doesn't pour if it isn't open, so let the arrows point the way.
Who designed this?, (What's this?) How not to design a carafe - turn the cap 1/2 turn and the coffee dribbles out. 30 minutes after brewing, the coffee is about 80 degrees even with reheating. Preheating, hey, I thought this was a thermal carafe. Has anyone looked at the interior shape of the carafe? I think that is why the coffee dribbles out. On the plus side, the coffee tastes great. I kept the packaging/boxes.
    Don't buy this type., (What's this?) 22 Dec 11

All the work involved Mr. Coffee 8-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker: a pitcher to fill the container w/water, placing the filter in the basket, getting the lid screwed on, "heating" the pot, getting the lid unscrewed, making sure the power is off, "drying" the pot after. Also, the finished product has an "uncooked" look (water not hot enough?; didn't drip long enough?) and had an "uncooked" taste. I was so glad I didn't throw out the old percolator which I am still using.

Melitta 46894 10-Cup Thermal Coffee Maker

Best ever! Finally!!!! A working coffee pot!!!! Whoohooooo!, (What's this?) YES YES YES! Finally a working coffee pot that wasn't designed/built by total morons!

A coffee maker should do the following:
    1. Make coffee into a pot (not on the counter)
    2. Make hot coffee (listen up mr coffee!)
    3. Actually pour coffee out of the carafe! (again something mt coffee hasn't figured out)
    4. Actually brew the entire filters worth of grinds and not just part of the grinds
    5. Not cost an Arm and a leg....
AWESOME COFFEE!!!, This is a sturdy coffee machine. Sleek looks, simple use, great coffee, easy to clean up. Coffee still pretty warm after 4 hrs. Really easy to use and clean carafe. Brews quickly enough, and produces piping hot coffee. Brew strength is a nice way to use less coffee and extract more flavor... more noticeable with fine grounds. Bonus, you can make iced coffee with this one! Fill the carafe with ice, double coffee grounds, and brew (directions are in the manual). YUM! Very bright blue LED for those who care, no bother to me. I read about all the others available Dec 2011, and this seemed the best bang for the buck! I recommend a burr grinder for excellent flavor! No burnt coffee taste at all.
Good Looking BUT Poor Operational Design, (What's this?) After much research I decided to purchase this machine. It's being returned.
Pros: Looks good. Auto cut-off. That's all in my opinion.
Cons: Adding water is tricky without spilling due to the wide "bridge" at the top center of the tank leaving a small opening on each side. Water level indicator is on side instead of the front. Not as good a cup as my old Krups still makes. Does not keep coffee hot (maybe if a full pot is made, but I normally make a half pot). Burner cuts off right after brewing. The clock is very bright.
This is the benchmark model for all thermal coffee makers, (
Quiet coffeemaker excellent coffee, (What's this?) Like many it seemed I devoted every spare moment for 2 weeks trying to find the BEST replacement coffee maker, and everything was either hundreds of dollars or got mixed reviiews so it was hard to take the plunge. We have had this Melitta for a week and I love it! I find the coffee is tasty. I love the design of the thermal carafe, it does not drip. It has pause and serve and can be programmed to auto start. AND it is quiet. NO beep! It does not beep, a feature I always found annoying. Plus it brews very quietly as well. It is very easy to pour in the water.
    Finally!, (What's this?)
Very good coffee maker with a thermal carafe, I bought this from Abe"s of maine. I usually don't write reviews but I did a lot of research and have waited a long time to buy another coffee maker since my Philips Thermal was getting a bit old.
I have tried a number of thermal units in the past and could not find one that produced hot coffee from the start, never mind after awhile from the carafe. The Philips was good, not perfect, where after my second cup I had to hit the microwave. So I came across the Melitta older version and wanted to buy it but could not find one at an reasonable price so I called Melitta. They said it was discontinued but they have a new model 46894. Now the picture is wrong here, it shows a glass carafe, the same on Abe's website but the model number was correct so I ordered it and got the thermal carafe.

So far I really like it. I ran water thru it and it is 5 degrees hotter than my Philips and it has a hot plate which gets good and hot during the brew time and then goes off when it stops brewing. It has 3 Brew settings which must be different temperatures which makes the water pass thru at different speeds. I have tried all 3 and I can't see there is a big difference, but I think you need to be exact in measuring and using the same coffee and amount of water. I have 3 coffees open in decanters which I switch everyday for variety.

Easy to fill without spilling water, easy to clean and the carafe is a one handed operation to pour..

So all I can say is go for it!.. Can't beat the price and quality for a good cup of coffee.
Melita not for me, I am not satisfied with this product. It does not keep the coffee hot and it is difficult to pour. The coffee brewing process is okay but no better then my old Mr. Coffee. Would not buy it again.

Black & Decker SDC740 SpaceMaker 12-Cup Coffeemaker, White

It's ok, that's all, just ok., (What's this?) This product works as intended. It is a somewhat difficult installation. The average homeowner may not be able to install without some knowledge of small power tools, as well as some improvisation.
Failed in 4 days, (What's this?) I have owned three SDC740 coffee makers; each one successively worse than other. First lasted 4 years. Second: 10 months.
Very poor design, I replaced a 15 yr old B&D coffee maker with this hoping to benefit from new technology and engineering. WRONG! First, it's impossible to fill with water without spilling it all over the place. Secondly, even after filling the unit, it leaks water all over the counter during the first few minutes of brewing. Lastly, it is SLOW to brew a pot of coffee. Oh... it has a little green light that is on all the time that wastes energy. I wish I still had the old one.
Don't buy this coffee maker!, Don't buy this coffee maker. I have owned three or four spacemaker coffeemakers in the past and have been fairly happy with them. This one is total junk.

First the installation directions are terrible. If you have a cabinet that has a little lip on it (like most cabinets do), you will have to customize the install for the coffee maker to work. I had to cut a piece of wood to take up space so the coffee maker could be installed. Within a month or two the clock stopped keeping time accurately. It would lose about 15 min. a day. I called Black & Decker and had to send the unit back. It was a huge hassle and they were very unhelpful.

I got the replacement unit, and it has worked for just over a year. Now the unit is completely dead no clock, no power, no coffee. I am very unhappy with this purchase and was a complete waste of money. I don't know why making a coffee maker is so hard.

The controls are in strange positions, once you install the maker you can't remove it. It would have been helpful if the screws for the coffee maker were in the same position as past coffeemakers. I have holes all over my From installing the space maker coffeemakers. Customer service is unhelpful. For as much money as we spend on these coffeemakers they should last more than a year. I won't buy another one.
Leaks water out overnight., (What's this?) DO NOT BUY OR GIVE TO YOUR WORSE ENEMY.
This is the 2nd undercounter B&D coffeemaker I have had. Like other people, the old design worked great for many years, before burning up.
This B&D product has been poorly designed, bulky, leaks overnight from the water container from day 1, and unsightly. Do not buy this product if you are sane. Piece of junk.
    Replaced with another brand.
Very nice, (What's this?) I have had the coffeemaker for about a month. So far have had no problems. Makes a good cup of coffee. This is my third undercounter. Had the original for over 16 years. B&D no longer makes old model.
Great Coffee Maker, (What's this?) I replaced my 20+ year old spacemaker with this new one and I am very happy with it. It is true that it does not fit in the old mounting holes and the template that comes with it is off.
    Excellent Buy!!, (What's this?)
RV replacement unit, (What's this?) Great product,Black & Decker did their homework. They simplify the installation with the removable mounting plate and gave it a lower profile over the older unit. Water level indicater light is bright and makes it easy to see how much coffee you are going to make.
Very disappointing, (What's this?) After having a good B&D under the counter coffee maker for many years, we moved and left it behind. Thinking that a new B&D under the counter unit would be the best, we ordered one for the new home. After installation of this really large unit, we noticed that it was very slow in brewing the coffee compared to the old unit. In addition, it is so large that there is really little usable counter space under it. We have been using the unit daily for a year now and are not happy. In addition to the slow brewing that never improved, in order to clean the carafe in the dishwasher, the flip top must be removed. Over the past year, this removal on a daily basis has caused the anchor pin retainers on the plastic top to become very worn so the top now just falls off when you tip the carafe. Also, the plastic top has very fine cracks in it (like crazing) which will undoubtedly cause it to fall off the glass container. I spoke with B&D support and they pointed out the warranty did not apply to the carafe at all and I would have to buy a new one. The cost of the new carafe "assembly" plus shipping (over $30) would be half of what I originally paid for the whole unit, so I did not opt for this "solution". I now notice that the white unit is no longer available on the B&D WEB site. I wonder why? My solution to the problem will be to use the unit a bit more until the cracking is worse, then junk it and get a Mr. Coffee for $20.

Coffee lovers no longer have to give up valuable counter space to accommodate a clunky coffeemaker. More than just a space-saving convenience, the coffeemaker comes with an array of user-friendly features for brewing up to 12 cups of great-tasting coffee. Its clock and timer allow for programming the unit to begin brewing at a later time--great for wake-up coffee in the morning or having a pot ready to serve with dessert without having to get up from the table half way through dinner. For those eager for that first sip, the unit's Sneak-A-Cup interrupt function pauses the brewing cycle to allow for pouring a quick cup midbrew. Coffee brews directly into the unit's Perfect Pour glass carafe, which provides a generous stay-cool handle and a drip-free spout. Other highlights include a removable filter basket, a removable water reservoir with an illuminated water-level indicator window, a nonstick heating plate, cord storage, and automatic shut-off for peace of mind. At least two of the mounting holes are the same as the original (ODC) coffeemaker to facilitate simple upgrades, and its Save-a-Plug outlet makes it possible to connect a SpaceMaker Mini Food Processor/Grinder or Can Opener directly into the coffeemaker, saving the wall outlet for other uses. The coffeemaker measures approximately 12-3/5 by 12 by 15-1/2 inches.

Hamilton Beach 80365 Custom Grind Hands-Free Coffee Grinder, Platinum

2 grinders with short lifespans, Just bought this grinder again, less than a month ago, to replace the same brand/model. The previous grinder lasted about 3 months before the hands-free function stopped working, the grinder itself completely stopped working after 2 years. I liked the price, the evenness and fineness of the grinder so I bought the same grinder again. The new grinder just stopped working in the middle of grinding about 2T of beans. This grinder gets used almost daily but only for small amounts of coffee beans (usually just enough for a cup of coffee). Due to the short life of these 2 grinders I cannot recommend this grinder.
Decent machine for blade grinder, but watch out for flimsy plastic, (What's this?) For what this is and its price, it has a lot going for it. If you are a real coffee aficionado, you should probably move on to a much higher priced burr grinder or the like.
Great Cheap Coffee Grinder, (What's this?) I've owned an identical grinder for two years now, which has served me well in grinding coffee beans for a drip maker as well as for espresso and is still going strong. I grind for the drip maker twice and week, and less often for the espresso maker. The coarseness dial works well, and the number of cups setting also helps with grinding various quantities (ensuring that all beans are ground by the time it finishes). I bought another recently for the purpose of grinding spices (chile peppers) for chili, and it worked admirably for that task as well.
No Fuss - Easy Clean, I like that the bottom pulls down so you can adjust the cord length. I've owned mine for three years. Easy to use: add beans, adjust settings, push button. Tada! You can make your coffee now.
    like it alot, (What's this?)
This grinder is for the beans, (What's this?) Prompt delivery, nice looking on counter, good price, Quality construction, powerfull, quiet, easy to clean, automatic selection of bean types with auto stop.
ok, but lid breaks too easily, I got one of these a few years ago; as far as spin-type coffee grinders go it was as good as any grinder I'd had for grind consistency, and it was fast and easy to use. It did poorly with small amounts of coffee, as do all of these kind of grinders, but for a daily pot it was fine.

The issue I had with it was the lid - about 2 months after I got it I tipped it over on the counter (a minor bump) and the tiny little tab of plastic holding the lid down broke. Thereafter I had to hold the lid to engage the safety mechanism while it was grinding, irritating but it still worked.

If you take a close look at the tab in question you'll realize it's not so much a matter of *if* it will break, but *when* - it's a tiny thing, with no reinforcement attempted. Simply making the lid a half millimeter thicker in the tab area would have prevented the problem; it's poor engineering.

I tried to contact Hamilton-Beach to purchase a replacement but got a computerized reply asking for the model number (which I had already supplied); I replied to this but got no further emails from them.
Hamilton Beach Portable Coffee GHrinder, (What's this?) Hamilton Beach 80365 Custom Grind Hands-Free Coffee Grinder, PlatinumMy wife and daughter were going to be gone for a few days and were worried about having to settle for putrid Motel coffee. I checked Amazon and was able to find this reasonably priced coffee grinder they could take with them. This way they can grind their coffee fresh and not have to settle for anything but the best. It is well designed, compact, sturdy enough to travel and my daughter said their coffee tasted even better than the coffee they get at home.It has 3 speeds and can grind coffee from coarse to fine to suit your taste.
Very good grinder for little money, (What's this?) This is great, does exactly what it's supposed to do. Very happy with the simplicity of operation and clean up is a breeze. The price was within my budget and although not top of the line, could not be happier. As usual, delivery fantastic and well ahead of time.
grinds cofee while you do other things, (What's this?) I have had 2 other Hamilton Beach coffee grinders and they worked well but didn't hold up well. So far this one does the job well and has held up . I have only had the product for 2 months though. Takes a while to get used to how the cord is put away.

  • Great for coffee and spices
  • Removable grinding chamber for easy filling and dishwasher cleanup
  • Precise cup & fineness settings for perfect results

Capresso 260.03 PerfectTea Cordless 48-Ounce Electric Glass Kettle

smelly, (What's this?) After too many attempts to get rid of the chemical smell and taste to the boiled water, I gave up. Called Capresso customer service, who couldn't suggest anything I hadn't already tried (lemon and vinegar). They were also kind of jerky about my desire to return the unit.

Luckily, I bought via Amazon, and the Amazon return process was absolutely painless.
Great at first, (What's this?) I bought this a year ago and really liked it. Then yesterday the handle fell of and it is not fixable! We did use it a lot, but it should have lasted for more than a year.
Pleased with my glass teakettle, I don't drink tea, but I bought this to get boiled water without the hassle of getting out a pot, and then having to clean it up when done. I love the glass carafe, we had a metal one before and it kept getting pieces off the lining in the water. So I like being able to see what is in your water. The water boils in a very time efficient manner, and it looks nice sitting on the counter.
Jury is still out, (What's this?) The first kettle I received worked great for about 3 weeks then suddenly stopped heating water. When the button was pushed, the blue light would come on, but heating would not start and after about a minute the light would switch off. No idea what the problem was, but Amazon was EXCELLENT to deal with to exchange for a new kettle. I have had the second one for ~ 3 weeks now. Still working so far, fingers crossed.

As to the plastic smell that some people report. I could certainly detect it in the product when unpackaged. I boiled a few pots of water with white vinegar prior to first making coffee and have not found there to be any detectable "off" plastic/chemical smells that I can detect. As long as this keeps working, I'll be happy.
Kettle, (What's this?) I love my Capresso Kettle, I use it everyday. My tea tastes perfect now that I can get it the right temp.
Love it, (What's this?) The water is hot by the time I have my coffee ground and situated in the Aeropress. The temperature settings with automatic shutoff are so handy. And somehow I got a great deal at $52. Perfect.

The only downside is deposits build up very quickly on the chrome heating element when I use filtered tap water. No matter. Who knows what the inside of my old kettle looked like.
Worked great, until it completely fell apart..., I bought the Capresso Perfect Tea Kettle a little over a year ago. It worked beautifully for a year. No problems with weird smells or bad heating elements as mentioned in other reviews. We have by no means misused this product, however about two months ago, the handle started to become deformed and would not close properly. We tried tightening the screws but the plastic around them had melted so badly, we were unable to tighten them. It seems the place where the steam escapes is right there at the fulcrum for the lid, so not only does it melt that section, but as you pour the hot water, the steam aims directly towards your hand.

Now, the lid has completely broken off, and the portion thats supposed to run flush against the glass down to the base has detached all along the side. Its unusable.

Not worth purchasing if planned obsolescence is the case, especially considering the kettle fell apart conveniently right after the 1 year warranty.
Great while it worked., (What's this?)
Superb Kettle/No Smell, (What's this?) I had bought the Capresso H2O Plus Glass Water Kettle and it did
have a plastic smell when heated. A friend recommended this
model and I am more than pleased with it. I have not detected
a smell and the temperature function works well. It's nice to
have an excellent cup of green tea.
Have used this over the past month and it works flawlessly, (What's this?) My previous Capresso Glass Kettle conked out after several years of daily use (minimum of three times per day). I read the reviews about this product having a bad smell in the kettle and was concerned, but still went ahead with the purchase.

From day one we have not had a single problem. My wife loves the different temperature settings and we have not had any bad smells from the kettle. Capresso must have fixed the problem. I recommend this to anyone looking for a great kettle with beautiful lines.

Not only a visually beautiful addition to any kitchen countertop or work table, this electric water kettle also works amazingly well for boiling up to 48 ounces of water. To use, simply fill the safety-glass kettle at the sink using the measurement markings up the side to gauge how much, return the kettle to its power base, and flip on the power switch. In a matter of minutes, hot water will be ready to use for anything from tea, instant coffee, and hot cocoa to instant soup, baby formula, or oatmeal. Unlike other electric kettles, the appliance offers a temperature control knob with five settings for adjusting the heat to 100, 150, 175, or 195 degrees F or "boil", which means it can accommodate both black teas as well as green and herbal teas that are best brewed at lower temperatures. Once the water reaches the selected temperature, the kettle turns off automatically. The unit delivers power to the kettle through its stationary base--this makes it possible to lift the kettle off the base for graceful pouring without the hassle of a cord. Even more, the kettle swivels 360 degrees in either direction on its base, making it a comfortable choice for both right- and left-handed users. Other highlights include a drip-free pouring spout, a stay-cool handle, boil-dry protection with automatic shut-off for safety, and a slide-out drawer with a handy temperature guide for selecting the best brewing temperature for all types of teas. The electric kettle measures 8-1/2 by 7 by 10 inches.

Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffeemaker

presto 12 cup stainless steel coffeemaker, (What's this?) this is a good coffeemaker and i would recommend it to anyone.it was bought at a good price and was received in quick time...
Presto Coffeemaker, (What's this?) I remember years ago having coffee at my mom's. It was the best tasting coffee. Now
with this coffee maker I get the best tasting coffee.
Better than pressed coffee., (What's this?) This was my first experience with having a percolator, and I have to say that I'm rather impressed! I've been a coffee drinker for a long time, and have been hooked on French Pressed coffee. I will say that I think the coffee made in this device is much better. It seems like it takes just slightly longer than pressed coffee, but there's no time keeping involved and it yields a better product. Cleaning is easy, it keeps the coffee piping hot as long as it's plugged in, and it was great with a big group of people.
A Truly Wonderful Product, (What's this?) I've used this percolator for over a month now and I have to say I'm truly happy with it.

    Pros
-It makes wonderful tasting coffee. I researched whether or not to get a percolator, a drip maker, or a french press. The drip coffee makers got outstanding reviews, and so many people trashed the percolator saying it drains all the flavor from the coffee and over-boils it. I found this to be a total falsehood, at least according to my tastes. This percolator doesn't continuously wash the coffee grounds. However I do open it once the indicator light comes on and take the grounds out and leave just the coffee in the pot because I like to clean the parts immediately. Coffee brewed in this percolator is rich and delicious.

-Fast brewing. This pot brews coffee very fast and very, very, very hot.

-Easy to clean. By cleaning the pieces immediately after use with hot, soapy water, I've been able to keep it looking like new.

-Coffee residue doesn't built up and end up souring your coffee from use over time. Every drip coffee maker I've owned has had this problem. After awhile your coffee brews up completely foul, but that hasn't happened with this pot, and I don't believe it ever will. It's too easy to keep clean of all residue.

-The design is just lovely. It's classical and elegant.
Poor quality control on Amazons part., (The rating of this review reflects Amazon not the quality of the coffeemaker.)

    I received a broken product.

The bottom plastic had a 2 inch chunk broken out of it.

The Amazon packing looked totally fine. It is clear to me that Amazon failed to inspect the item before packing it. I am sure that if they had opened up the package before packing it in Amazon packaging they would have seen the break.

In addition the manufactures packaging looked old, like it was past overstock.

Finally the package was delayed multiple times. I had to wait about 2 weeks for a package that I expected to recive in a few days.

I am very disappointed in Amazon.
one our hard water can't destroy!!, (What's this?) We have hard city water and every coffee maker we would get (Bunn, Cuisanart, etc) would last 6 months at the VERY most before I was deliming it every week to no avail.
We love percolated coffee while camping so it only made sense to us to go with a percolator for the home. Less parts to get gummed up with crud. And it makes a great cup of coffee, very fast.
We have had this percolator for about 5 months and i really like it. Its easy to clean, and it hasn't gummed up on me yet.
A few helpful hints....get the correct grind of coffee. Too fine and you get grounds outside the basket, too large and you get weak coffee. Make sure you seat the post into the hole in the bottom of pot or you get hot water instead of coffee ( hubby and i have each done this once....) we also use a percolator filter paper in our basket. If you don't know what they look like, they are little circles with a hole punched out for the post and they fit perfectly in the bottom of the basket. also with this pot when you put the basket and post in the pot of water it sits up a bit out of the pot. But there is a spring on the post that positions it after you put the lid on. (That baffled me for a moment when i tried it out for the first time...)
The price on the pot is great, $40 is very reasonable. Try it.
To Perc or not to Perc, (What's this?) Since drip coffee makers have dominated for so long, I wondered how I'd like going back to the old tried and true, percolater system.
Simply good coffee, Solidly constructed and easy to use. Makes coffee fast. No plastic brewing parts to leach chemicals into the coffee. Very happy with it.
12 Cup Perc, (What's this?) Be aware that the product makes a little noise.... It is, after all, a percolator! Works great! Easy to use. Works as intended. Good product.
not completely stainless steel, The inside of this pot is not completely stainless steel. The place where the coffee/tea leaves go is not stainless steel and looks like aluminum. Also the center groove at the bottom inside of the pot is not stainless steel. Looks like aluminum.

I use this for herbal teas as well as black teas and coffee. The pot works well. The only downside is that is not 100% stainless steel.

An indicator light in the base announces when the coffee is ready. The inner fixtures--the filter basket and perk tube--are also made of stainless steel, rather than the more common (and less durable) aluminum. The power cord is removable to make storage simple. Before cleaning the coffee maker, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Wash the coffee maker with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the gloss of the stainless steel, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The perk spout and filter basket can be cleaned with a brush or pipe cleaner. If necessary, coffee stain remover can be used periodically on the interior surface. The coffee maker measures 10 by 5 by 13 inches (including handle, lid, and spout). Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A simple instruction sheet is enclosed. --Garland Withers One of the most comforting sounds in the world is the bubbling of a coffee percolator at work. And then comes the toasty aroma--it makes for a perfect morning. Percolators have come back to home kitchens, and the Presto 12-cup stainless steel coffee maker is a prime example. Its elegant, hotel-style design brings a touch of luxury to what is for many a daily pleasure.

Capresso CM200 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe

Avoid - danger!, Do NOT buy this item. It is cheap Chinese manufacture and leaked like those of the other reviewers. In our case after about nine months of once a day use. It is not safe to mix water and electricity so it is imperative not to buy or use this item. Even though the manufacturer offered to repair or replace this item we read the other reviews and realized that this defect is characteristic and not an anomaly. We wouldn't want to use a replacement. Avoid like the plague. I'd give this item zero stars if it were possible.
Best Coffeemaker yet, (What's this?) I recently bought this coffeemaker after spending days researching and trying to find the perfect one. Ive went through 3 coffee pots in the past 2 years and did not want another failure. After getting this one and getting it setup it, I love it.

No more dripping water all over my counter when trying to pour water into a coffeemaker, the pull out water reservoir is wonderfully easy to fill and I also loved that it was clear. The last one i had was black and i kept thinking about what was in it that I couldnt see perhaps buildup or worse. The last one also had a small opening where this one is large enough for my hand to fit down in it so I can clean it.

I also love being able to brew a few cups at a time and because of the small brew button the coffee still tastes great.
Coffee pours out smoothly and without drips also.

One thing i really loved was the display, its so easy to read and the lights show up so well your not having to squint your eyes trying to see if the auto is actually turned on or if your half asleep you can still easily tell what time it is.

The coffee is very hot but doesnt seem burnt even after sitting on the burner for over an hour (my husband wakes up at least an hour before I do)
We usually make 10 cups every morning and I have yet to have one cup that tasted burned. Not only that but the coffee really tastes good, the filter works great.
Purchased 4 months ago, now unusable, (What's this?) I purchased this product about 4 months ago. I had previously owned a Capresso thermal carafe model which worked great for about 5 years - no complaints and it made great coffee. However, this model gave us a completely different and disappointing experience.

First, the washer that holds the drip stop assembly onto the filter holder fell off into the trash while throwing away the grounds and I could not find it. Second, the round filter that sits in the water tank also broke about the same time. I called Capresso customer support and they responded "Sure, we'll ship those parts out immediately!". After waiting for about a month, I ordered the two parts at my own expense and they promptly arrived. I installed them and had high hopes of everything working again. However, I found that about every other pot of coffee would end up on the counter and in drawers. Some of the time, the maker would steam and start running, but most of the water would never even leave the holding tank and I would end up with a highly concentrated "swill" in the coffeee pot.

Since I am outside of the return window, I now have to trash this unit and start over with a new purchase after only a few months of successful use.
Great Coffee Maker, (What's this?) Owning a previous thermal Capresso I was less than happy with the constant spilling the carafe would generate. This new Capresso, no spilling, better quality coffee stays much cleaner with the removable water tank.
Great coffee for 4 months then just a mess, This coffee maker made terrific, hot, coffee and was so easy to use with the removeable fill tank for about 4 months. It then started to slow down and leak a lttle, it got slower and slower, leaked more and more until unuseable. I purchased it for only 35.00 at a local dept. store, so didn't bother notifying the company to possibly receive a new one, I don't want another Capresso. Would NOT reccommend.
LEAKS, POOR QUALITY, (What's this?) Had this coffee maker for 13 months. The surface of the hot plate has worn away in places and it leaked some of the time, not all the time ... so you didn't know if you would find the counter flooded or a pot of coffee. After 3 floods we stopped using it and bought something different.
Buyer Beware, I bought this coffee maker against my better judgement (considering all of the negative reviews). I did this because it looked a lot different than all of the other ones out on the market and wanted something different. I disregarded some of the negative reviews which was a big mistake. I have used this machine a total of 5 times and it has already malfunctioned. I got the machine ready to brew 8 cups the night before so it would be ready in the morning. Well, woke up this morning and pushed the "on" button.
Stopped working after 7 months, Got this in January 2011 to replace a Cuisinart DCC-1200 that we bought in 2002. In July 2011, the Capresso started to leak all over the counter. The spring loaded gasket at the bottom of the water tank was clean and was not the problem -- the leak was coming from inside the base somewhere. Grrrrrrr. Very disappointing for this to break after only 7 months when my previous coffee maker lasted 9 years with no problems. I won't be considering any Capresso products in the future.
Capresso CM200, (What's this?) Attactive, easy to use and so far makes really good coffee. I have had Capresso prior for about 7 years and unfortunately broke the glass carafe. Ordered this coffeemaker as a replacement. Particularly like having a removable water dispenser .... easy to fill and also clean. Most do not have this feature.
Capresso CM200 Coffeemaker, (What's this?) I am definately a coffe snob and this Drip Coffe Maker is great. I especially like the disposable filter for the Water. You get 60 pots of coffee before it gives you a signal light that it needs to be replaced. The Digital Display is nice and bright and also large for easy viewing. So far, very reliable and the best part, not expensive at all. It has more features than any I considered in this price range.
