Cuisinart DCC-1150BK 10-Cup Classic Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker, Black

Cuisinart DCC-1150BK 10-Cup Classic Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker, Black
Better than Zojirushi so far, (What's this?) Several months ago I read all reviews for thermal carafe type coffee makers. Looked like the Zojirushi was the best bet for the money. A few weeks ago I needed to buy a coffee maker for my office. I had not been super happy with the Zoji so I read and researched again. This time I tried this Cuisinart and am happy with it so far. It is far better than the Zoji at making HOT coffee. With the Zoji I would pre-heat the carafe with water from the insta-hot water dispenser, then put lukewarm water in the coffee maker instead of cold, and still the coffee was barely hot enough when immediately consumed, and shortly was not at drinking temp. This machine is simpler to use, and I can use the 1-4 cup mode to create hotter coffee if desired. I have had it only a few weeks so not sure about durability. I have now purchased a second one for home.
Coffee isn't hot enough, (What's this?) The coffee isn't nearly as hot as I would like it to be, and the thermal carafe does not keep it warm for very long at all. I've read that you should "preheat" your carafe by rinsing it with warm water, but I guess I'd rather have a simple glass carafe and not worry about it.
Works fine, but disappointed, (What's this?) I had the Mr. Coffee thermal coffee pot for several years, and decided to replace it with the Cuisinart due to bad reviews for the Mr. Coffee. I'm speaking mainly from a comparison standpoint, but what I don't like about the Cuisinart is:
1. The look/design - it looks like a basic, relatively cheap coffee maker. The Mr. Coffee looked nicer sitting in my kitchen and had a sleeker design.
2. A big flaw is that the carafe gets hot on the bottom, which defeats the purpose of being able to take it out of the unit, and set it on the counter or on a table. You'd have to use an oven mit underneath.
3. This coffee maker uses a cone shaped filter, and I prefer a basket style.
4. The lid turns to lock, rather than just lifting up. This is a bit of an annoyance and doesn't seem to serve any purpose.

Overall, the coffee tastes good, and it's easy to use. I just wish that I had ordered the Mr. Coffee again.
Very good, (What's this?)
Fine coffee maker, (What's this?) Love the thermos carafe, though doesn't keep coffee super hot it's very drinkable. Have experimented with different grinds, found the setting for "machine drip" at the market to be the best - no problems with it running over. Really enjoy the timer, coffee's always ready when I get up in the morning. Only drawback is the temperature of the coffee, oh and haven't been able to make less than 6 cups that taste good.
The Right Stuff, (What's this?) Nice coffee maker. Works just fine and is easy to program. Makes good coffee too. Fits into appliance garage which is nice.
very good, This coffee maker makes coffee a real pleasure once again. Not since the last cuisinart, have I realized how much better my morning cup of joe could be.
okay for the price, (What's this?) Okay for the price. Product performs as stated the coffee stays hot and fresh for several hours. The downfall is that I enjoy strong coffee and this doesnt have a strength feature. Its difficult to adjust the strength by adding grounds which is what im doing now.
Cuisianrt Coffee Pot with caraffe, (
Great Coffee Maker, Love this coffee maker. Got it a couple years ago and it has worked great ever since. I love the stainless steel carafe. Keeps coffee super hot for a long time. And you can take it out and set it on the table and still keeps coffee hot. No heating element which I love.
