Really dissapointed Hot Chocolate and Tea drinker......, I was so eager to use this coffee pot since I am not a coffee drinker however my husband is and I was thinking wow a product that could benefit both of our beverage needs....BE Weary tea and hot chocolate drinkers...I had guests for Thanksgiving and The TEA tasted like Coffee...I was so bummed as were my guest we re- circulated the water thinking well maybe we need to have it run a few cycles so the taste can go away even though the compartments are separate however the coffee taste is not separate so for those of you who are just counting on Tea and Hot chocolate and are not a coffee drinker-RE THINK YOUR PURCHASE !
Not only that but with the extra filter the COFFEE is soo strong that it is hard to gage how much coffee to put in there. BEWARE the coffee is an adjustment due to the filter...you don't need nearly as much when brewing a pot. The pour spout is great but not enough for me to give the maker a 2 star because of the time I spent returning it and dissapointment with our purchase.....

This Coffee Maker is a work of art, This Coffee maker is amazing. I am beyond thrilled with it. Finally a coffee maker that actually makes a hot cup of coffee and allows you to decide how long you want it to stay on. This is the absolute best coffee maker I have ever owned. The coffee tastes wonderful, the features are more then you could desire, the hot water all day long is a wonderful benefit.

Only thing I don't like is adding water is slightly difficult due to placement of the filling holes. Should be a removable reservoir.

Love the "Clean" feature. We'll probably never buy the charcoal filters because we have a great water system here but I have lived and visited places where this would be a plus.
Plastic taste and broke after 4 months, I bought this unit mostly for the hot water system. However, since the water from the hot water system never stopped tasting like plastic after countless flushes with and without vinegar, I resorted to using the coffee maker to heat up water. After only 4 months, water stopped brewing / coming down into the carafe. I heard nothing when pressing brew, thus I don't think the heating element was turning on any more. I assumed it was too late to return to the retailer, thus I talked with Cuisinart and they wanted me to pay for shipping both to (?) and from ($10) for a replacement unit! I thought that was ridiculous to charge your customer shipping for a faulty product. I did some research and realized the retailer where I purchased knows how to take care of their customers and I could still return to the store. I bought a Keurig instead.
Obvious Choice, (What's this?) Reviews for Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System, Black/Stainless (Kitchen) My gal friend and I drink coffee most of the day when we are at home. Usually, after the first morning pot, it's on an as needed basis, depending on the day's activity's. Brew a pot or two if we are hanging around home long enough, or brew a cup to get going in the morning. This machine is perfect for our lifestyle...plus I can make an instant cup of tea when the mood suits me. This brewer hits the spot on target. A carafe or two of hot coffee to lounge around all day with, or instant coffee with hot water to get going out the door fast.
This idea is brilliant and serves many purposes. I like my coffee hot and strong, and she likes hers lukewarm with creamer. A little cold water an walla, both of us are happy. I was hesitant to pay 5 times the cost of a cheapo regular coffee maker, but I'm certainly glad I did.

Reviews for Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System, Black/Stainless (Kitchen) I cannot give a full a complete review as I have just received mine and completed the initial heating to flush out everything. I can say this, the hot water is thermostatically controlled. I worked in the kitchen and could hear the unit after heating become silent. Later, I heard a click and the water started boiling again. Every once in a while, I can hear it click and start boiling again. If you have problems with it not shutting off and becoming too hot, I believe you have a faulty unit in the thermal switch in there is defective. One major factor I can say about the packing. The carafe is laid loosely on the base where your cup and carafe normally sets. If you are not careful, when you remove the packing on each side of the units it will roll out and break. I almost dropped mine as it rolled out on the counter. I had no problem pouring water into it and spilling it as some reviewers have noted, but I can see where it might be a problem if you are not careful. I remove the top of the carafe when I am filling both sides. I cannot comment about the coffee making, but I will see you tomorrow morning. Will probably have to experiment to get to taste right. I do not use the filters as my water is filtered at the faucet. So far, I am very impressed with both the operations in the appearance of this coffeemaker.

Reviews for Cuisinart CHW-12 Coffee Plus 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Hot Water System, Black/Stainless (Kitchen) Since I don't lend a lot of credence to reviews written by those who have just opened their shiny new item and are gushing with naive enthusiasm I will make my initial review quite brief at this time. I promise to follow up with a more comprehensive review in about 6 months.
The reason for my purchase of this item is that my lovely wife and I drink coffee in the mornings and also I drink quite a bit of hot tea later in the day. Instead of turning on the microwave every time I need more hot water I thought this unit would satisfy both requirements nicely. And indeed so far it is succeeding nicely.
I was concerned that the hot water dispenser would consume a lot of energy, but in fact it does not. Reason: While that side holds over a quart of water it only actually heats about 15oz at a time. Great idea! It takes about a minute longer to heat each batch of water than my microwave, but as soon as you dispense the hot water it immediately begins heating another batch. It might not be the best for those who want a larger amount of hot water at one time, but it works very well for my purposes. Just FYI.
There are several small but thoughtful items that makes this unit a good value in my opinion not the least of which it is actually two units in one. For example:
1) The #4 cone style filter that comes with this unit brews a superior cup of coffee in my opinion and better utilizes the coffee in a more even way. The fine wire mesh filter that comes with the unit sells for about $8 alone and means you never have to buy another paper filter.
