Hamilton Beach 7-1/5-Cup Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, Red

Hot Water, (What's this?) It gets hot very quickly, and easy to fill. I bought this for work to get hot water and not to have to put water into the microwave. I do like that after it heats up it turns off by it self and you don't have to keep an eye on it.
Energy-inefficient, I drink a lot of tea and really need a British-quality electric kettle. This is my third try in the USA and I have to admit, I bought it for the colour (it matched my mixer). It heats the water in a reasonable time, BUT it also cools it quickly too. Even fifteen minutes later, the water in the kettle is cold, and you have to reheat it from scratch. I swear this is why my electric bill is higher than it should be... will find out when I replace it with an INSULATED kettle.

Also, as there is no insulation, the kettle itself becomes dangerously hot to the the touch.

I do NOT recommend this kettle to other British expats. :-)

Oh... and the reviewers who say that this "heats water quickly" most likely have never experienced electric kettles on 220v power ;-) "Heats quickly" may be in comparison to a stove-top kettle. (Electric kettles are a recent arrival in the USA and are still not seen in every home.
Worst kettle I've owned, My husband purchased this kettle from another store As a mothers day gift. With in a month the bottom was rusting. I exchanged it for another only to get it home and find there was a huge chunck out of the spout. I took it back again. After about 2 months the 3rd kettle was rusting. I have phoned Hamilton beach three times. I have had to leave a message for them because every time I call the time quickly goes from a 5 minute hold time to 15 minutes and continues to get longer. I emailed twice. I have never received a reply to any of my calls or emails. There customer service is terrible.
A Great and Inexpensive Electric Kettle., I need an electric Tea Kettle for college as I would not be able to use the stove-top Kettle I use for heating water up in for Tea and Coffee, and I ultimately decided to purchase this Tea Kettle.

Positives:
1) This Tea Kettle contains very little plastic. In fact the only plastic that water comes into contact with is a small filter in the pour spout that can be(and I have)removed, and the measurement window. Despite the small amount of plastic contact, no plastic taste seeps into the water, which was something I was concerned over in finding an electric Tea Kettle. Most electric Tea Kettles that are under $50 are mostly plastic or contain are fair amount of areas where the heated water comes into contact with plastic, this one does not.

2) Simple Operation: Can you turn on a light switch? Good then you can operate this Tea Kettle. Simply flip the switch located on the back of the Kettle down and it will light up to tell you it is on, and then turn off automatically once the water reaches boiling temperature.

3) The water boils quick. The average time to takes to boil about fourteen fluid ounces of water in this Kettle is about two and a half minutes. My stove-top Kettle at home takes about five for the same amount of water.
Not so expensive and it works fine., I bought it at a local store for a similar price. It works perfectly for me, and I think it is worth the price. It boils the water very quickly. I usually boil 0.75 liters in maybe a little more than one minute.
Perfect kettle!, (What's this?) I love love love this little kettle! We use it almost every day. It has become my favorite way to cook pasta - put the pasta in the pan on the stove, boil water in the kettle and pour over pasta. Make it sooo much faster than waiting for the water to boil on the stove. Tea water is ready super fast and it makes a perfect partner to a french press.
Red kettle, (What's this?) Love this red kettle. Use it every morning to heat the for our coffee, plus use it during the day to heat water for tea. It heats the water faster than our microwave. Used my large coffee cups to measure the water and had to get used to putting the water into the kettle without spilling a little. The technique I developed was to raise the cup higher, which enabled me to pour without spilling. When I pour from the kettle, it is better to grab the lower part of the handle. This enables you to tip the water sprout with more stability so that you can empty the kettle.
Major design Flaws, (What's this?) I've had this kettle for a month, and am already looking for something new. There are several design flaws that just outweigh the kettle's good looks. First, it is stainless steel, so those with kids/pets, note that the outside gets really hot. The placement of the handle over the small opening makes it inconvenient to add water. The super-short spout, coupled with the handle placement, pretty much guarantees that the steam will hit your hand when you pour. This is also due to the kettle's shape - bigger at the bottom and small at the top means you have to tilt it further to pour, thus making the steam go straight up to your hand. The other issue is the switch. It is a clear plastic piece that sticks out at the base ans is very fragile. Mine barely got bumped and no longer will turn the kettle on and off.
This is my favorite tea kettle!, I'm a long time tea drinker and I needed a new tea kettle. I wanted one that didn't have a cord and heated water to boiling very quickly.

When I spotted this red kettle, I immediately purchased it and have been very pleased with its performance. I use this kettle several times a day every day and it has not failed in the least. It heats a full kettle to boiling very quickly and efficiently.

I use the water for teas, instant coffee, jello, oatmeal and soups.

There have been some comments by other reviewers about it being noisy and that the handle is uncomfortable and awkward. I have not had any trouble gripping the handle or handling the kettle. Also, I have not noticed any noise while it is heating except for when it is close to boiling ... then you do hear the water moving around in the kettle ... but that would be true with any kettle reaching the boiling point.

I love the cheerful red color and while I have been using this kettle for a couple of months now, all I have done is wipe the exterior down with a clean dish cloth and the finish is still shiny and bright red.

While I have a couple of other kettles for steeping tea and other uses, this one is my favorite and it is used all the time.

I highly recommend this kettle to anyone interested in it. I also thought the price on this kettle to be very reasonable.
Red stainless electric kettle, (What's this?) Great fast-kettle. Love the color and style.
