Good, for the price, I have used my new coffee maker for 2 weeks now and I really like it. It's easily programmable, makes hot, good-tasting coffee, and I can get 2 pretty full oversize mugs out of one full pot. If there is a downside, it's that the unit still smells a little like burning plastic. I've read other reviews and blogs on the internet and some who claim to know about things like this, say the smell is coming from the plastic "gassing out" as new plastic will do. Sounds reasonable, and I will give it more time. It does seem to help if I keep the lid open when not in use. I also washed the filter basket with baking soda which seemed to help a lot. It certainly doesn't smell nearly as bad as it did when I first used it, so maybe in time the smell will go away. It doesn't seem to make a difference in the taste of the coffee. For the price, it's a real good deal and I am pleased.
Great little coffee maker, (What's this?) I bought two of these, one for the house and one for my travel trailer. They both work great! I especially enjoy the fact that it has a delay timer for coffee for early morning, to wake up and smell it brewing. It's compact and easy to operate too.
Perfect for me., (What's this?) This is perfect for 1 or even 2 people. It looks great on my counter top, and once I figured the ratio of coffee to water it makes a great cup of coffee.Pause and serve, and programable are nice options. For the price it can't be beat.
Perfectly adequate coffee maker, I am going to assume most folks who had trouble with this coffee pot (doesn't make coffee strong enough, water run off, metal carafe not warm when removed from base, etc) have simply never owned a coffee maker before. Those are user errors rather than errors of the coffee pot.
It works well for its job--making a few cups of coffee every morning. I cleaned it through and it did not have any plastic smell after. I greatly enjoy being the brew pause feature so I can be impatient with my coffee. Have not had trouble with water run off.
If you desire a coffee maker that has an insulated carafe and does a bunch of fancy things you ought to buy one that costs more than $25. But for a $25 coffee maker, it does exactly what it's supposed to. Make a good, reliable, cup of coffee, quickly, with little to no mess.
Not a good coffee maker, (What's this?) As others have said, there is a burning plastic smell from the steam and you can taste it in the water. It could be because its new and will go away after a while. The more annoying thing I have to deal with is trying to get the carafe in and out. You can see from the pictures, there is a huge thing covering the carafe. It gets a bit tricky trying to wiggle the thing in and out. I returned it thanks to amazon's great return policy and bought the 4 cup version which doesn't have the bulky roof.
Pretty good maker with a few flaws, We've had this model for about a week and unfortunately it will be replaced. When our first pot died (we'd had it over 7 years) I knew that I wanted a Mr. Coffee as I had grown up with it and it has always been a great brand for coffee makers. And this one works pretty well but like the title says, there are a few flaws with this one.
Good things:
1. Beeps when it's emptying the last of the water into the carafe so you know your pot is ready.
2. You can pull out the carafe to pour a cup mid-brew and not get coffee everywhere.
3. Doesn't take up a lot of space on your counter.
4. Easy time and delay brew settings.
Down sides:
1. The fill line is on the side of the machine; I prefer one with it on front or inside the water well.
2.
What a Bunch of Drips!!, After 6 yrs. of 4-5 times daily use (usually water for teas/cappucinos), my "old faithful" Mr. Coffee was finally starting to leak onto the counter; had to get a replacement right away, & my local store's poor selection made this seem the only 5-cup machine to fit my need. Wish I'd read these reviews before buying! In my 2 weeks of having this, it continually drips (no, LEAKS) water all over the hot plate whenever I pull out/replace the carafe for a cup.
DON'T PURCHASE ONE OF THESE, I'm am fully aware that Mr. Coffee was good for it's time, but it is by far the worst machine I have ever had. It set my kitchen walls on fire after turning itself on in the middle of the night. It then proceeded to burn down my entire house and I lost all of my posessions along with a portrait that my dead grandmother painted as a gift for me many years ago. When I called in detectives to determine the cause of the fire, they took the machine away for testing and later I recieved a letter saying that my evidence had been destroyed in an "accident". I now have nothing and a bad insurance track record. Not to mention that the machine produced, terrible, luke-warm coffee with a slight flavor of burnt plastic. It doesn't matter what machine you get, they all have records of starting fires and produce terrible coffee.
stainless steel or glass, (What's this?) This is my third 5 cup Mr. Coffee maker. The first two were with the stainless steel pots and this one has the glass. The difference I have discovered is the glass pot pours the water much easier into the coffemaker without spilling. Taste of the brewed coffee is about the same with a little edge to the glass pot. The previous two coffee makers were very good and lasted approximately one year each without any problems until I forgot to put the pot on the burner and the percolating water ruined the heating element, not counting the mess to clean up. The fault was mine both times. I highly recommend the 5 cup machine, and especially like the one hour shut off feature; for us seniors this is a safety aspect and is also an electricity saver.
Most annoying coffee machine ever, Half the time I use this machine, the filter collapses, making a pot of brown tinted water filled with coffee grinds. It is a piece of garbage. The instructions advise to dampen the filter before use if this happens. So apparently, this is common.
Dual water window shows the amount of water in the reservoir for accurate filling.On/off indicator light lets you know when your coffeemaker is on or off.Cord storage safely stores excesscord to keep your counter neat.Brewing pause 'n serve lets you pour a cup of coffee while the coffeemaker is still brewing.Removable filter basket lifts out for fast and easy filling and cleaning. Set the Delay Brew feature up to 24 hours in advance and get ready to wake up to a freshly brewed pot of hot, delicious coffee.
