Capresso MT600 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Stainless-Steel Thermal Carafe

Dittos on the disappointment, I bought the MT600 to replace a Capresso carafe-type coffee maker that I had used reliably for 10 years. This one is an underwhelming replacement, but I won't be returning it.

The good: It's fast, its quiet.

The mediocre:
- As many other reviewers have said, the water may brew at the appropriate temperature, but it cools down quickly in the metal carafe. (It MAY--depending on where you live. I found that when I lived in Colorado, it was at least 10 degrees below the 180 that they advertised. In fact, my first MT600 was brewing at 150 degrees. I sent it back, and Capresso "repaired" it to brew a little bit hotter--about 165. I now live at sea level, and the water seems to be at the proper temperature 180-200.)

- The coffee cools too quickly in the carafe. My old capresso had a glass-lined carafe that lost very little heat instantaneously, sealed up tight, and kept a hot/warm pot for several hours. This one drops at least 10 degrees upon brewing (especially if you're using the timer to have coffee "greet you" in the morning), and then quickly after that. Preheating the carafe (according to the directions) is silly, to me, and the company should be ashamed to recommend it in the instructions. Obviously the laws of thermodynamics apply, so I expect the coffee to cool somewhat when it reaches the metal carafe, but I'm most surprised by how quickly the pot gets cold. The bottom of the carafe it nice and warm, though! (that means the carafe is hemorrhaging heat)

- As other reviewers have lamented, using the carafe to fill the reservoir just cools off the carafe further. It's also not so neat--the small "filling hole" in the back of the unit requires some skill to keep from spilling. It's easier to use a separate cup or pitcher (which we do) to fill the back of the unit. By the way, the capresso unit we were replacing had a detachable reservoir that was simple to fill, and was neat and accurate. This is much less so.

- The electronics panel has an annoying green light that tells you the "filter status.
Had this for over 5 years - still love it!, I just adore this coffee maker. I have made a daily pot for over 5 years and it still makes the best coffee I've ever tasted. I'm online today to buy a new filter but other than that no issues. I love the way it insulates the hot coffee for hours and doesn't continue to cook and get bitter. I can't even drink the coffee at work because I'm so spoiled with this pot.
If it's not Capresso, I'm going back to bed., (What's this?) I bought this to replace the discontinued Elegance Therm. This is a nice item for the money, as with most Capresso products. It brews at a high temperature, and quickly, a full pot in 7-8 minutes. Capresso seems to have improved their carafes, this one stays hotter longer that my previous ones. I gave it 4 stars because I don't particularly like the water level indicator. It is at an awkward angle when pouring in the water, and is subject to scale build-up. Markings in the tank itself would be better. Be aware that the unit makes quite a racket while brewing...living alone I don't mind.
Capresso, you aren't making them like you used to!!, I have had a Capresso Coffee and Cappuccino maker (model 471, I think) for 12 years!!!! Yes, 12 years!!! Can you believe it. We have made at least 1 pot of coffee, every single day, for the last 12 years. And it makes fantastic coffee too. I'm a coffee snob, yes. The coffee maker still works but I am needing to replace the water container. I'm thinking I'd rather spend $100 on a new one than $22 on a container (since this thing is so old). However, you just aren't making them like you used to! Why doesn't anyone believe in quality anymore? I checked them out and it seems so cheap and flimsy compared to my old one. Oh, what to buy. I wish I could afford a coffee maker, with no plastic, but they are over $1000. :( Oh, what to do...what to buy.
Great coffee pot, (What's this?) We love our Capresso MT600 coffee pot. People had complained about the coffee not being hot enough but we did not find that to be true. With any carafe you will need to pre-heat with hot water while you get the rest of the coffee pot ready. It only takes a minutes to let hot water sit in the carafe to pre-heat. With that said you obviously can not do that when you use the auto setting but we found the coffee to still be quite hot regardless.
Love this brand!, (What's this?) I bought this coffee maker for my son because I love the one I have. It makes hot coffee, and I like the fact it doesn't sit on a hot burner after it has brewed. I had trouble pouring it without coffee spilling all over UNTIL I READ THE DIRECTIONS. It is true, the button has to be aligned with the pour spout. When I did that, it poured perfectly. I love the stainless caraffe. This is a great company that stands behind its product.
great coffee, (What's this?) We've had a Capresso for 5 years now and keep transporting it from our northern home to our southern home. Well, it was time to leave the old Capresso at home and purchase a new one for our second home. Both pots make wonderful coffee, and both pots keep that coffee hot for hours as they are both the stainless steel carafe style. This new pot, however, has one fault; it is EXTREMELY noisy. The older pot is very quiet, but this one is the opposite. Other than that--a good coffee pot....great brand.
Capresso MT600, (What's this?) We purchased this after our last two coffee makers just stopped making hot coffee. This one does and seems fairly well made though it is Chinese. After doing a little research on Capresso's site I found that all their coffee makers heat the water to around 200 degrees or so and use a better heating element than other brands. Time will tell if it will last. We make coffee every day and sime times twice a day so our coffee makers see a fair amount of use.

The Coffee tastes very good with this machune. We use a Capresso Grinder as well and also make French press so I guess we're fussy. The only other minor thing is that I wish the carafe opening were slightly bigger at the opening so it was a little easier to clean.
Great coffee, poor quality and longevity, (What's this?) I have used this coffee maker for 1 1/2 years.

Pros:
1. Makes very good coffee and does so quickly.
2.
Better than ever, (What's this?) I purchased this coffeemaker to replace the same one I purchased at least 5+ years ago. There has been an improvement in the way the top screws onto the pot. It provides a better seal and has eliminated spillage while pouring that some people complained about. I had that problem only once and a while, but it was because I was trying to pour the coffee too fast. The coffee brewed is excellent. I like a bold coffee and I use a burr grinder on a very fine setting and use an unbleached #4 coffee filter. The stainless filter that comes with it is only used in an emergency--it lets too much sediment into the coffee pot without changing to a coarser grind which greatly decreases the quality of the coffee. The price I paid for it on Amazon was unbelievably terrific.

Brew up to 10 cups of delicious, full-flavored coffee in under eight minutes with this programmable coffeemaker. The machine provides an illuminated, 24-hour, LCD digital clock and timer with soft-touch controls for easy operation. Set the timer so that fresh, hot coffee awaits dinner guests when it's time to serve dessert or so that the aroma of a freshly brewed pot fills the house a few minutes before the alarm goes off in the morning. The coffeemaker supplies a 10-cup stainless-steel thermal carafe with an ergonomic stay-cool handle, brew-through lid, and drip-free pouring spout. Removing the carafe from the coffeemaker stops the flow of coffee and allows for sneaking a quick cup before the end of the brewing process. Simply replace the carafe to restart the flow of coffee. Another thoughtful detail includes its special smaller-amount setting, which ensures maximum aroma when brewing just 3 to 5 cups at a time. For added convenience, the coffeemaker features a stainless-steel-lined heating system that eliminates contact with aluminum and reduces the need for decalcifying, the ability to retain programming during short power outages, and automatic shut-off after two hours for safety and peace of mind. Other highlights include a handy water-level indicator, a washable gold-tone filter (no need for disposable paper filters), a charcoal water filter that removes up to 82-percent of chlorine and other impurities from tap water, and an electronic indicator that shows when to replace the charcoal filter, as well as milled steel housing for superior strength and style and concealed cord storage to keep countertops looking tidy. The coffeemaker measures approximately 9 by 8 by 14 inches.
