Hamilton Beach 43254 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, Black

Hot Hot coffee everytime., (What's this?) This is my second Hamilton Beach coffee maker this model. The only reason for the replacement was remodeling kitchen and wanted black verses the red model I had. Just as my other one, this one makes HOT coffe and keeps it HOT. It is easy to program and has never let me down. Red one still works and will be Goodwilling it.
Try another, (What's this?)
So reliable we've bought three over the years, (What's this?) My husband is very fussy about coffeemakers - adequate number of automatic features, dripless carafe, price. We have tried a range of mid- to high-priced versions over the years but none met the satisfaction we have had with the Hamilton Beach Coffeemaker. We have purchased three only because I like my coffeepot to look new or because we moved and changed the decor of the kitchen (from red to black). Great price and features, good looks as well.
Carafe Hinge Problem, I researched the reviews for coffeemakers quite extensively and decided on the Hamilton Beach 43254 because of cost and fairly good product reviews. Within two weeks of use the carafe hinge that holds the top for pouring had broken.I have spoken with Hamilton Beach and they will replace the carafe - although the consumer representative informed me that the model I purchased had been manufactured in 2009! Two years later I am buying it on Amazon.com. I am pleased with the response from Hamilton Beach but would have rathered the hinge not broken so quickly in the first place. As always I agree buyer beware! and reading the reviews can only get you so far in your selection.
Great coffee maker, (What's this?) I reviewed a lot of other brands but decided on this one because of the simplicity of use and the manufacturer's and Amazon's reputation. As other reviewers have cited you must be careful in filling the water receptor because if you miss it just a bit it will drain out onto the plate. Do it once and you wont miss again, lol The only other quirk is that the cover of the caraffe does not come off for dishwasher cleaning. Otherwise I am very satisfied both with the product and Amazon.
poorly designed carafe, (What's this?) The carafe shipped with our recent order of this product is very poorly designed. The lid is very difficult to get off because it snaps in firmly, without a design to easily remove it for washing. The brackets that held it on broke off before we even used it the first time (we were getting it ready for the dishwasher). I've had so many coffee pots over the years, and never had one designed like this. I'm sure they change the supplied carafes over the years, but this is not a good one! So we never even got to the point of trying the coffee.
perfect., (What's this?) I've had my hamilton beach for a couple of weeks now. It blows away the mr. coffee machine I had before. The most important feature for me is the no-drip pouring. My last coffee pot would drip all over the counter when I poured a cup. The coffee is good and hot. And best of all, it matches the rest of my stainless steel appliances beautifully. I love using the programmable feature for my morning cup before work. For under $50, I can't complain about anything.
A cup of hot coffee and hold the grounds, please., I must be doing something wrong judging by all the great reviews left for this coffeemaker. I thought buying a Hamilton Beach would insure a hassle free product. After all, what can they do to screw up a coffemaker?? I have been using this maker for about 9 months now and have two big issues from day one. Right after brewing, the coffee is not hot. So, I end up nuking the first few cups. Also, when making 10 or more cups and therefore using more coffee grounds, I always end up with grounds IN the pot. I attribute both of these problems to the hot water sitting in the grounds basket too long which overflows the coffee filter. Bottom line: warm coffee with a side order of grounds. I am hoping that the extremely hard water we have here kills this off sooner than later.
The Good and The Bad, (What's this?) Pros:
*Price: inexpensive compared to other similar items
*Reliable: programmable feature has worked everyday, so I wake to fresh coffee
*Coffee tastes fine, no issues with taste, as some others have found
*Attractive and cleans easily

Cons:
*Carafe: very poor design for the lid on the carafe; as others have mentioned, the lid is permanently fixed, you can't remove it without breaking the very flimsy plastic tabs that hold it in place. I managed to break the tabs within five minutes, while trying to wash it for the first time. Also, there is a lip at the spout and it does not allow complete emptying of liquid from the carafe.
*Pouring water into the machine is difficult. The best option is from a 45 degree angle to the machine, but even this is awkward. The hole is in the rear and is not very large, the coffeemaker's lid only opens so far and the carafe is wide. This combination makes it difficult to get the water where it needs to go without spilling a little or contorting your arm.

Overall, I'd give it a "B" grade for good but not great. You can certainly work around the issues with the carafe, but it is annoying.
Hamilton Beach 43254 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker, (What's this?) The Hamilton Beach coffeemaker you look great coffeemaker works perfectly as advertised and works very quick quick as anything I've ever had before the great. I recommend it to anybody that would like to have there coffee brewed quickly.
